Acupressure
Acupressure
Acupressure is a touch technique which balances the flow of ki, or like energy, in the human body. It works by using touch in a special way which communicates very clear, distinct messages to the brain; and by directly influencing the flow of energy to eliminate imbalances. Because of its effectiveness at reducing stress, Acupressure is extremely useful in our society as a preventive health care measure.
ORIGINS OF ACUPRESSURE
Acupressure history is a unique combination of Chinese medical theory whose history stretches back to the beginnings of acupuncture 5000 years ago, and a rich living tradition of folk medicine. As a method of healing it has traveled from China through Japan to North America and UK.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN ACUPRESSURE SESSION
Acupressure is performed fully clothed, on a massage table. The most common experience reported by those receiving Acupressure is a feeling of “relaxed energy”. This is the goal of Acupressure; an increase of your energy reserves and a vitalization of your ability to use your own energy effectively. Stress reduction is a natural outcome of Acupressure.
The effects of an Acupressure session are usually felt for between 3 hours and 3 days afterwards. Since Acupressure moves energy in new ways, a wide range of sensations has been reported. These may include feeling: "lighter, lazy, elated, tingling, hot, cold, emotional" and generally feeling energy moving in your body in unaccustomed ways.
Not everyone has such reactions, but the results are part of the balancing process.
